Contemporary Service

Are you tired of all the heavy tradition, stuffy dress, early mornings, ancient music and formality of traditional church services? Well, The Lutheran Church of the Messiah has the answer for you. The Lutheran Church of the Messiah has had a 5:00 pm Contemporary Service every Saturday.

Contemporary Services are aimed at redefinining the church experience for the 21st century. We are using modern music played by guitars, drums and keyboards led by song leaders. Dress and atmosphere is casual. The services focus on celebrating the goodness of God, the greatness of God's mercy and the endless love God gives us. Communion is celebrated weekly. As we like to say, "Gospel with a beat."

Top Ten Reasons to Attend the Saturday Celebration Service:

  1. Your parents and in-laws have been nagging you to go somewhere to church anyway.
  2. You can come dressed casually in jeans or shorts! (Please wear a shirt of some kind -- we're laid back, but we're not that liberal! )
  3. The music is great, especially if you like the idea of "Rock tunes for Jesus".
  4. What a great chance to meet new people your own age -- you might even decide to socialize again sometime over pizza and a ball game.
  5. The timing is super -- we're done by 6:00, so you still have the entire evening open. You won't even feel guilty on Sunday morning, but hey, you can come back again if you want to.
  6. It will be easy to understand and inspiriational -- you won't even have to be a Lutheran to follow along!
  7. What's on TV on Saturdays at 5:00? "This Kitchen Floor" or "Live Midget Wrestling"? Please!
  8. Martin Luther would have loved it. Don't ask, it's just a gut feeling.
  9. It's the best thing from the Lutheran Church since Davey and Goliath reruns.
  10. Having fun at church! What a concept!
